The Christian Life

We believe

a. Christians are called to a holy life of service and testimony in the power of the Holy Spirit,  (Gal 5:16-25;  Eph 2:10)

b. The believer’s walk is hindered by his flesh, the sinful human nature,  (Gal 5:17)

c. The conflict of his new nature and his old nature is a lifelong conflict,  (I Cor 9:24-27)

d. He may substantially overcome the old nature through the ministry of the indwelling Holy Spirit,  (Rom 7:24-25)

e. He is admonished to cooperate with the Holy Spirit by “putting off” the old nature and “putting on” the new nature,  (Eph 4:22-23)

f. He is to live the Christian life by confessing Christ before men, maintaining vigilance in regard to the present evil world, giving God absolute authority in his life, avoiding entangling alliances with unbelievers, separating himself from a secular world view and conformity to this world’s philosophy which rejects accountability to God,  (II Cor 6:14-18;  Eph 5:15-17)

g. He should maintain a personal devotional life of Bible study and prayer,  (Rom 12:1-2;  II Tim 2:15;  I Tim 2:1-3;  Ps 1;  119:11)

h. He looks for opportunities to serve in the propagation of the Gospel message to the whole world,  (Acts 1:8;  Col 3:22-24)

i. He is promised rewards in heaven for faithfulness in such service.  (I Cor 3:12-15)
